A Good Read: We have a lively Book Group whose members take it in turns to nominate a book for everyone to read, and they then usually meet up in four or five weeks' time to discuss their thoughts. At the moment these discussions are taking place via email and today the group awarded four stars to 'Once Upon a River' by Diane Setterfield. The ladies are now going to read 'Brideshead Revisited' by Evelyn Waugh; did you watch the original television adaptation in the early 1980s? If you've read all the books on your shelf in recent weeks, why not give our choice a try and see what you think?
Flower of the Month Competition: Every month at our meeting we hold a competition for members to bring a single flower that they have grown. In May the competition took place via email. Some of these are shown in the slideshow of photographs at the top of the page and demonstrate our members' wide range of skills. In addition, two of our members have been keeping their sewing machines busy by making sets of 'scrubs' for the NHS. |
